Back Care Yoga
with trainer Rodney Yee
You will love it if:
In this series of workouts, Yee aims to address the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of back pain through the use of mindfulness and yoga. Each of the workouts has a different focus and feel, but they are all slowly moving and relaxing and provide amazing relief for chronic back pain. Using this DVD will not only relieve back pain in the moment, but improve core strength and flexibility to permanently eliminate or reduce back pain. Yee’s mindfulness training also allows you to learn how to manage pain more effectively by helping you to change the way you relate to the physical sensations within your body. The DVD also includes a bonus feature with (a) tips on sitting correctly in order to protect your spine and (b) exercises you can do while sitting to elongate the spine and open the hips. I personally found the tips and stretching exercises to be very helpful in reducing lower back pain.
These workouts require a bolster, blanket or towel, yoga blocks, and two chairs. I used a rolled up towel instead of a bolster. I also did the moves without the yoga blocks because I am familiar with yoga and was able to modify the moves accordingly, but if you are a beginner to yoga or are inflexible, you will want to use the yoga blocks.
Enough space to lie down and stretch your arms out in both directions (overhead and out to your sides).
What NOT to Expect
These workouts are great for beginners, they are very relaxing, and they will truly relieve back pain. They were not created to be challenging workouts. If you want to improve your strength or burn calories, this is not the DVD for you.
